Συνωστισμός, που σε πολλές περιπτώσεις γίνεται ασφυκτικός, δημιουργείται λόγω σύμπτωσης προσεγγίσεων πολλών κρουαζιερόπλοιων ταυτόχρονα στη Σαντορίνη. Κατακλύζονται οι περιορισμένες υποδομές, αλλά και ο ίδιος ο τόπος. Η Σαντορίνη έχει μια συγκεκριμένη “φέρουσα ικανότητα” που θα έπρεπε να καθορίζει τον αριθμό αποβιβαζόμενων επιβατών από κρουαζιερόπλοια σε κάθε χρονική στιγμή. Τα λιμάνια δεν διαφέρουν από τα αεροδρόμια στον τομέα αυτό και οι χρονoθυρίδες (slots) για τις προσεγγίσεις πρέπει να καθορισθούν και να κατανεμηθούν έγκαιρα. Η ανάπτυξη της κρουαζιέρας είναι ζητούμενο αλλά αυτό δεν μπορεί να γίνεται σε βάρος της συνολικής λειτουργίας της Σαντορίνης και συγχρόνως οι ίδιοι οι επιβάτες των κρουαζιερόπλοιων να είναι δυσαρεστημένοι λόγω αδυναμίας εξυπηρέτησής τους.
